What is Tesco Dance Beats?

A.

Dance Beats is a new fundraising campaign from Tesco to support the incredible work of our health charity partners Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK.  There will be activities in stores, fun for family and friends at home and a world record breaking attempt at Wembley Stadium for the longest continuous dance marathon.

What is the Tesco Dance Beats Marathon?

We plan for this event to be the longest continuous dance relay ever, raising millions to beat some of the UK’s biggest health challenges. 

Over 30 hours, thousands of colleagues and members of the public will join forces to set a new Guinness World Record. You won’t want to miss it.

Who can attend?

A.

The Tesco Dance Beats Marathon is open to colleagues and customers from across the UK. If you’re a customer, we’ll email to confirm whether you’ve got your place by 2nd July.

Where is the Tesco Dance Beats Marathon?

A.

Where else but Wembley Stadium! Inside an iconic space called The Bobby Moore Room, there is also access to the most prestigious hospitality space in Wembley, which has a stylish & VIP feel. Here’s how to get there.

When is the event?

A.

The event kicks off at 6am on Friday 19th July with the first Guinness World Record dancers starting at 8am and ending 2pm the next day.

What is the current world record?

A.

The current dance marathon world record is 25 hours, 2 minutes and 20 seconds. That’s what we’re aiming to smash – with your help.

How do I sign up?

A.

How much does it cost?

A.

The event is entirely free to attend. But we’d love you to help raise money for our charity partners. Simply set up a JustGiving page and ask friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you on our Dance Beats JustGiving campaign page.

When is the registration deadline?

What is the age limit?

A.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to take part and show off their moves but they must be accompanied by someone aged 18 or over.

The 11pm to 6am time slot is not suitable for children aged under 12.

Who are the charity partners?

A.

Our three charity partners are some of the biggest and most well-respected in the UK: the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK and Diabetes UK. Find out more about our partnership and the great work they do here.

Is this a fundraising event?

A.

Absolutely! We’re raising as much as we can for our amazing partner charities.

How long will I be dancing for?

A.

Don’t worry – we won’t expect you to dance for the full 30 hours. But you will get to showcase your moves for an hour on the dance floor as part of your four-hour Dance Beats experience.

How do I get to the event?

A.

We’re providing free buses for Tesco colleagues from a number of hubs all over the UK, so you can get in the mood with fellow record breakers while you're on the move. Just choose where you’d like to leave from when you register. Bus transport is not guaranteed and will be dependent on your region and time slot selected. And if that’s not your cup of tea, you’re also welcome to get there under your own steam.

Will there be parking available at the Wembley event, and how much will it cost?

A.

Yes. Parking will be available in the official Wembley Yellow Car Park (closest and recommended) and Red Car Park and will cost, 0 - 6 hrs - £1 per hour   6 - 8 hrs - £10  8 - 12 - £12  12 - 24 hrs - £24.

What time should I arrive?

A.

Your whole experience will last for four hours, and we recommend that you arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled time slot.

Do I need to register upon arrival?

A.

Yes, you’ll need to bring your confirmation email and a form of photo ID with you for registration. You’ll also get a colour wristband when you arrive. But we’ll email the exact details to you nearer the time.

Where can I store my belongings?

A.

You’ll be able to store small bags at the venue for the entire duration of the event. All bags will be checked on arrival, so we recommend you not bringing a bag if you do not need to.

Can my family and friends watch?

A.

If you work for Tesco, you’re welcome to bring along a friend or family member as long as you have already registered them when you registered yourself. 

No spectators will be allowed at the event who haven’t been registered.

Where does the money go?

A.

All of the money raised will go to our fantastic partner charities, the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK and Diabetes UK, so they can continue doing their amazing work.

How can I donate?

A.

That’s the spirit. You can either donate online on the Dance Beats campaign page, set up your own JustGiving page from the Dance Beats campaign page or drop some change into a fundraising bucket at one of our Tesco stores from Thursday 18th July to Saturday 20th July.

Can I donate to the charity partners via text message?

Can I turn up on the day and enter?

A.

In a word, no. As registration has now closed, you must have already registered online to be able to attend.

What do I need to bring with me?

A.

You will need to bring your confirmation email you received when you registered which has your unique QR code on. You will also need to bring some photo ID with you. Further details will be shared on email before the event.

What will I receive before the event?

A.

You will not receive anything prior to the event apart from content emails that will provide you more information on the Tesco Dance Beats Marathon.

Q.

What do I do if I don’t receive a confirmation email when I register?

A.

Your registration will only be confirmed if you receive a confirmation email from Tesco Dance Beats with a QR code on. If you have not received this, please email info@dance-beats.co.uk to check you have registered or to request another confirmation email to be sent. Please also check your junk folder for these emails. If you haven’t registered you will not be able to enter Wembley Stadium.

Can I give my place to a friend?

A.

All of the places are non-transferable. Each person's place will be registered to their name so everyone must have already registered online.

What are the rules?

A.

There is only one rule… don’t stop dancing!

What will be provided at the event?

A.

You will receive a Tesco Dance Beats t-shirt to mark the occasion and catering will be provided that is suitable for the time of your allocated slot.
